Heart Frilled Bag!
This mini bag is perfect for beginners because it uses mainly single and double crochet stitches! Designing this bag was quite fun and I’m obsessed with the 3D heart design.
This is the idea I was going for with the bag!
The bag begins by making an oval worked in a spiral. The body of the bag is worked in the back loops only giving the outside a nice texture while leaving the inside nice and smooth so that items don’t get snagged on anything!
Bottom of bag.
I used a 4mm hook for this project and Hobbii Cotton Friends 8/4 held double. You could also use a DK weight yarn for this project.

Let’s Get Started:
Using a 4mm hook make a slip knot
Round 1: ch 23, 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 20 sc, 3sc in next st. Continue working on opposite side of ch, 20 sc, inc, sl st into 1 st of round. (46 sts)
Round 2: [ 20 sc, (INC) x 3 ] x 2
Round 3: [ 20 sc, (1 sc, INC) x 3 ] x 2
Round 4: [ 20 sc, (INC, 2 sc) x 3 ] X 2
Round 5: [ 20 sc, (3 sc, INC) x 3 ] x 2
Round 6: [ 20 sc, (INC, 4 sc) x 3 ] x 2
Round 7: [ 20 sc, (5 sc, INC) x 3 ] x 2
Round 8: [ 20 sc, (INC, 6 sc) x 3 ] x 2
Round 9: [ 20 sc, (7 sc, INC) x 3 ] x 2
Round 10: sc blo in each st of round (94 sts)
Round 11-39: sc blo in each st of round **On row 13 mark the 59th
Round 40: 3 sc blo, ch 17, skip 17 sts, 30 sc blo, ch 17, skip 17 sts, 27 schedule
Round 41: 3 sc blo, sc 17, 30 sc blo, 17 sc, 27 sc
Round 42-45: sc blo in each st of round.
Sl st in next st, cut yarn, close with invisible join.
Heart outline using scrap yarn in contrasting color.
Heart Outline:
Lay bag flat with handles together.
Using scrap yarn in contrasting color and tapestry needle outline heart shape with a running stitch working in the front loops only using the following method:
Cut scrap piece of yarn and starting at marked stitch from row 13 mark center vertical line with a running stitch.
The marked stitch will be the bottom point of the heart.
Cut long piece of CC and insert it into the stitch marked on row 13. Thread tapestry needles on both ends of scrap piece and stitch an heart working up and along both sides. The heart outline should be equal distance from marked vertical center for each row. Scrap yarn will be removed later. You may tuck the ends on the inside of bag.
3D Heart Appliqué:
Join CC with sl st in marked st of row 13, ch 1, sl st in row above following heart outline moving towards the right. Repeat *ch 1, sl st* into every st marked in the heart outline. Remove outline scrap piece.
After completing anchor sts above, repeat *ch 3, 4 dc* into each ch 1 space following along heart shape. Sl st to close. Weave in ends.
Thank you!
