There’s Community in the Comments
For the time being… the comments are turned on. I have such mixed feelings about social media but today I’m really standing on business about it. Now I say this because I’ve been fortunate enough to find a community in the comments.
The other day I was out with my yarn friends. Every time we gather it is such a unique experience for me to be breaking bread with people I met during classes that I taught and community nights at a local yarn shop. Something that if I’m being honest, I probably wouldn’t drive to regularly because of how flaky I can be about leaving my house. But being that I am employed at said store I’ve been there for 90% of the community nights and I’ve met really cool yarn lovers. I didn’t really know any other crocheters or knitters IRL. And while I am so happy to have met these people for a long time now I’ve had community online. In the comments.
In the words of Jordan Chiles, ArtFit by Zakyla is that girl! I’ve built a platform that I am proud of and I’ve had really genuine interactions with people who I have never met in person before. Some I even ended up meeting in person and that really just blows my mind. I know social media is not a real place but I do believe that real connections can be made. I’m so grateful for every supportive person I come across. I’m grateful for the vulnerability that people strangers show under a post. This feels weird telling my business like that but seeing that I live my life like I’m the main character anyway let’s call this documentation for my life’s memoir.
Okay, now here’s what I’ve been working on lately. I’m testing a pattern for a sweater and I’m obsessed with the texture! I’m using Kelbourne Woolens Scout in the color Chartreuse and a 4.5mm hook.
